Start with interior cleaning
The first step is removing all trash, including looking under the seats and other spots where trash can hide. Next, give your vehicle a thorough vacuuming, starting at the top and working your way down because gravity pulls dirt and pollen towards the floor. If you’re doing this with your home vacuum, you'll need hand attachments that can get into tiny spaces around the seats. Use a screwdriver or an inexpessive can of compressed air to dig dirt from hard to reach corners.
Don’t forget to give attention to removable floor mats, carpeting, and seats. Important note: don't forget to use a cleaner recommended for your car's upholstery and dashboard surfaces and follow directions for application. Wash the exterior (including the tires)
Grit and grime that accumulates on the underbody of your vehicle will need attention. You can use a strong hose spray or a power wash attachment to get under your car and in the front and back of your tires. When washing the outside of your car yourself, use only products recommended for this purpose. Hand-dry using soft fiber cloths that are absorbent and that won't scratch the paint. (Natural fiber cloths are perfect for this.)
The extra step of waxing will not only give your car a sparkling shine, but it will also protect the finish that helps maintain resale value.
Replace wiper blades
If you live in an area with frequent rain or snowy weather, your wiper blades should be at their best. If you notice that your blades cause streaking or aren’t clearing as much water, it’s a good idea to invest in a new pair. We can help you find the right set for your vehicle at a great price.
Get fluids checked and refilled
Some fluids, like window-wiper fluid and oil, should be refilled or changed around every 5,000 miles or so. Take this opportunity to get your vehicle inspected at the Tom Peacock Cadillac service department, where we can check and top off any needed vehicle fluids.
Get tires inspected and aligned regularly
Changing temperatures throughout the year often affect your tire pressure, not to mention the wear and tear that occurs every time you take your vehicle out on the road. For a quick test of whether your treads are too low, stick a penny into each tire’s grooves. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head, then you may need new tires.
