With Cadillac making the shift to an all-electric lineup, the transition will understandably mean the phasing out of existing gas-powered models. As one of those models that doesn't fit the new focus on electric vehicles, the 2024 marks the last time the Cadillac XT5 will be rolling off the assembly line. The luxury compact segment is a crowded one, but the XT5 has been able to hold its own. What's New for 2024?
This is the last year Cadillac will make the XT5 for the U.S. market, so 2024 brought only a few cosmetic changes to the model. Prospective buyers will find new exterior finishes along with three new appearance packages--blue accent, red accent, and bronze accent if opting for the Sport trim. Cadillac's goal of transitioning to an all-electric brand has caused it to rethink its American lineup, with the XT5 one of the casualties.
Real World Performance
Prospective buyers have the choice of two engines for the 2024 XT5, both paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. While all-wheel drive is available, all trim levels come with front-wheel drive as standard regardless of engine choice. Both the Luxury and Premium Luxury roll of the line with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine packing 235 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The XT5 offers an estimated fuel economy of about 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Opting for the XT5 Sport trim ups the game to a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, though still paired with the same non-speed automatic transmission. This brings the XT5's power to 310 hp and 271 lb.-ft, allowing it to go from 0-60 mph in just 6.4 seconds compared to the estimated 7.6 seconds delivered by the smaller engine. That added power comes at a small cost to fuel economy, however, as it drops to about 19 mpg in the city and about 26 mpg on the highway.
